GTDInbox 2.0 RC3 Released

I’m going to start this with an apology, for the momentum on the blog fell away over the last few weeks. The reason is fairly straightforward, a small community of testers on the forum sprung up and have been key to getting GTDInbox through the very rough & ready development period. There are a lot of subscribers on the blog, so I hope you’ll forgive the cowardise, but I was somewhat terrified of several hundred people using the very unstable code :)

Now for the good news, GTDInbox 2.0 is very close to public release! This means you should be able to use it and only suffer the occassional error.

A little request, I’d like to keep this ‘off the record’ for a little while longer. By all means tell some friends, but I’d rather it wasn’t blogged about until the 2.0 release.

Okay, there’s no new website yet, so you kind of have to figure things as you go. Essentially, you will either see the UI elements, or you can right click things (or in some cases, shift+click things) to get the rest.

You can download it from, http://gtdinbox.com/changelog.htm
There is a first draft of Getting Started at http://gtdinbox.com/support-gettingstarted.htm
And of course, you can discuss it in the Forum, at http://forum.productivefirefox.com

Hi, I’m glad to use GTDinbox 1.96

By the way, how is localization feature going? :)

    Don’t forget about it! :)

  • Andy

    Hi @Kay,

You’ll be pleased to know GTDInbox is fully localisable now :) If you have any queries, drop me an email.

I haven’t used it extensively yet, but I’m very much in love with it already. Thanks!

One small request, could you make sure it works with Prism? I edited install.rdf to make it install, but nothing actually happened once Prism loaded… I think GMail+Prism+GTDInbox is a total killer app!

  • Andy

    Hi Lalo,

That’s a great idea, I don’t suppose you’ve got any idea how? I will take a look at the docs, but if you’ve got any inside knowledge it would be welcome!

    Congratulations!

I’m trying it out and it feels great. It’s also pretty fast, thank you so much.

    Hey Andy,

I know you get this all the time, but keep up the good work!! This is perfect for me. I do have one quick suggestion though.

The Projects drop down in the labels window appears as a subset of Misc. I’m not sure if this was designed to be this way or a flaw. Here is my reasoning.

I would love to be able to open a “Projects” drop down without opening the Misc Drop down menu. This way I can keep my list of projects there and in view without having to sort through the Misc labels as well

Also, Currently the projects prefix is not alterable like the contexts or statuses in labels. Is that going to be changed for the final release?

  • Andy

    @JasonK

It sounds a lot like you have the wrong prefix for projects. By default, in version 2, your project prefixes should be P/

If this is the case, and it’s still not working, can you email me and I’ll look more deeply into your settings.

(Also why are you using RC3?! We’re on RC7 at the minute!)
