Second Round of Critical Updates – 2.0.11.3 and 2.1a3

It appears there were  a few – much less noticeable – aftershocks to last week’s Gmail update, and GTDInbox was left in a weakened state! I’ve polished it up again, and the downloads are now available.

It’s a little bit of bad timing, because every time I have to patch the current version of GTDInbox, time is taken away from building the major updates (which frustratingly, wouldn’t be so thrown by Gmail’s recent changes – but that’s a frustration I’ll be able to live with once this is all behind us!). Essentially, our resources are a little tight, but we’re cracking on as quickly as we can!

Thanks to everyone who emailed me and commented on the blog about their issues – it helped me get to the bottom of what was going on. As a disclaimer, I think things may continue to be a little shakey for the next few weeks, but I’ll try and get on top of every issue as it appears.

To upgrade to 2.0.11.3, just go to http://www.gtdinbox.com/ and click the green button.

GTDInbox 2.1 testers, I hope you still have your emails with the details on how to download it. Just go to the new website and grab 2.1a2 (again, the green button).

    Hi Andy,

Thank you! I just installed the 2.0.11.3 update, and it seems to have restored the right-click functionality as applied to projects and contexts, as well as the drop-down menu adjacent to the Gmail search field at the top of the page, and the drop-down Dashboard menu within projects and contexts (or, I should say, within labels). Searching also seems to be faster.

Clicking on the project and other names in the dashboard that opens when I open each email still does not apply the labels, so I am using the L keyboard command for this. The review searches still do not seem to work.

Thank you, again, and keep up the good work!

How do I know the current version? I went to the settings tab, and it doesn’t show the version number there. (It should). This is 2.1xxx

I still experience strange things with GTDinbox, so I wanted to share these.
    I am using firefox3 and gtdinbox 2.0.11.3.
After opening an email, clicking on the various labels in the pull-down menu
indeed assigns these labels to the email.

But after some time, gmail enters a state when this does not work any more,
i.e. when I click e.g. “Reference” in the menu, nothing happens.

This behaviour can also be triggered by a “search” from within gmail.
After the search results are shown, and an email is selected, labeling stops
    working.

Third: the pull-down menu earlier had the behaviour of staying open (pulled
down), and multiple labels could be clicked, without the pull-down disappearing, and having to open it again. With the current setup, however,
after I click on a label, the pull-down menu disappears.

    Hi Andy,
it seems that 2.1a3 rel does not deal properly with tags assigment when I’m inside of the email. Clicking on the inline tags (Status in my case) or assigning a tag from a drop down produces the corresponding word to go bold/unbold but no tag is actually set.
I have to chose them as normal labels for now, quite annoying… Please help!

    Does not Compute!
GTDInbox is out of order :(

At some point, the unread and status counts started to get combined on the folders/lablels. I have a number of mailing lists with their own labels and this new view is quite annoying. It basically does not allow my mind to differentiate between important (status) counts and less important mailing list messages counts.

Could a setting be added to change this behavior. Anything that separates those counts would do, even two numbers in brackets.

Otherwise, I have been using the product for a while and are quite happy with it.

Still have problems with 2.0.11.3. Cannot aply GTD labels to messages in the normal message window. Only works for me in the message preview. Hmm.

    oh bummer!!!
please help us back to our beloved gtdinbox!!!

Also, please add the version number on the settings page, and also (if possible) the date the update was applied. I mean the date that “I” install it, not the release date. This helps, for example, if I install on tuesday and then wednesday my wife can say “nothing is working” :) she would know when I changed something.
