GTDInbox Vs Gmail – Round 3!

2.1a4 (for donators) and 2.0.11.4 are now ready. They’ve been extensively patched to work with the latest Gmail change (see the previous blog post); and also had a few other rough edges ironed out – for one, I hope the people who have suffered labelling issues will now have an easier life!

To re-iterate an earlier disclaimer; I think that until the latest round of major updates are complete (in GTDInbox – although the same is true of Gmail!), we may continue to have less than 100% stability. I’ll post an update on where we’re at with 2.1 later in the week (but it’s progressing well).

To upgrade to 2.0.11.4, just go to http://www.gtdinbox.com/ and click the green button.

GTDInbox 2.1 testers, I hope you still have your emails with the details on how to download it. Just go to the new website and grab 2.1a4 (again, the green button).

Hello Any. Thanks again for all you effort.

I thought I’d report this issue to try to help.

I just updated to the 2.011.4 version. I no longer see the GTDInbox settings in the settings section of gmail.

    Best Regards,
    Sean Buscay

    Using 2.0.11.4.

Not only are the settings gone, clicking on the Statuses “buttons” or Other Labels drop-downs do not set the labels.

Same here, updated but the Settings are no where to be found – the other parts that stopped working seem to be working again though.

Yes, that is true for me also, using 2.1a4 under Firefox 3.0.6 and Vista 32 SP2 Beta.

Also, the inline labels don’t work consistently. In the Inbox, setting a Status works, but if one changes one’s mind and tries to set another Status, the label turns bold when clicked, but that doesn’t set the Gmail labels. Nor does a bolded Status affect the already-set Status (the one-status-only setting isn’t enforced). The drop-down labels from Gmail work fine, however.

In a search results window, the inline links seem never to work; they turn bold, but have no effect on the Gmail labels.

I think the label issues were the same in the previous version, and indeed in the previous stable versions, at least on my system.

Oh, my poor battered bones are so loving that “ls/w[enter]” for “add label: status/Wait”. That said, where’s the “and archive (clear from inbox)” to add to that command? Is this the kind of little interface point where GTDInbox can add that option via a shift key or something?
I’m all about the keyboard. And apart from my own intimate interest in the matter of strain reduction for those of us with repetitive strain injuries, I’m wondering whether grabbing little hooks like that might be part of GDTI’s future (or even its present). With 2.1 you seem to be moving gloriously on toward seamless integration, Andy & co.
    All the best, M.

    Andy -

I’ve updated to 2.0.11.5 and things seem to be working fine. However, after reinstalling twice, the GTD Tickler (Greasemonkey) script is no longer available. No “Remind Me” button, which I use all the time. I realize this is not your dilemma but wondering if you experienced this as well? Is it related to your newest update? Thanks – I’ve been praising your GTD Inbox to my colleagues!
